Here are highlights from last night’s festivities in NYC as Sports Illustrated honored Coach Summitt and Coach Krzyzewski as the 2011 Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year. Enjoy!

PAT SUMMITT NAMED 2011 SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR

Time Inc. Sports Group editor Terry McDonell announced today that Tennessee’s Pat Summitt is the 2011 Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the Year. The NCAA’s all-time winningest women’s coach joins an elite group of sports immortals, including Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ashe, Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, Billie Jean King, Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Orr and Pete Rozelle to receive this award.
Says McDonell: “The voices of those who have been inspired by Pat Summitt echo from everywhere and will continue for decades. What she has achieved through her coaching and, more importantly, her teaching places her among history’s transcendent figures. It is an honor to now include her in the select group of Sportswomen.”
